Dethdlr's EQ2 Melee Crit Calculator

Brought to you by Dethdlr's Weapons Emporium at EQ2411.com

This calculator will compare the damage/delay of two weapons and tell you which of the two should do more DPS for you on average.

Note: This calculator ONLY COMPARES THE DAMAGE AND DELAY! It does not take into account any procs, stat bonuses, etc. This is intended to allow you to compare two weapons that are fairly similar in other regards and see which one of them should have better DPS in regards to the way crits work. Primarily it shows how a wider damage spread works to give more DPS. Initial values have been populated in the boxes to point this out. Click Calculate to see how these hypothetical weapons stack up against each other with different crit %. Try calculating for 30%, 50%, and 70% and see how the DPS changes.

How are things calculated

Rating = (Low Damage + High Damage) / Delay
Swings Per Minute = 60 / Delay
Damage with 0% Crit - Average Damage per swing without any crits * Swings Per Minute
Damage with 100% Crit - Average Damage per swing with 100% crits * Swings Per Minute
Damage with your crit - (Damage with 100% crit * your crit %) + ((100 - your crit %) * Damage with 0% crit)
Difference from Weapon 2 - Weapon 2 Damage with your crit - Weapon 1 Damage with your crit
Difference from Weapon 1 - Weapon 1 Damage with your crit - Weapon 2 Damage with your crit

% of Damage Potential - How much of the potential damage the weapon does on a swing. This allows you to see the effect of the Actual Crit Damage and how it impacts different weapons with different weapon spreads.
Damage Without Crits - ((High Damage - Low Damage) * % of Damage Potential) + Low Damage. This shows how much damage the weapon would do without any crits depending on the damage rolls for the varying percentages.
Base Crit Damage - Damage Without Crits + 30%. The base increase in damage from a crit off an autoattack is 30%.
Actual Crit Damage - If the Base Crit Damage is greater than the High Damage, then the Base Crit Damage is used. If the Base Crit Damage is LOWER than the High Damage, then the High Damage + 1 is used. This calculation is the reason weapons with higher spreads between the low and high damage will parse better than weapons with lower spreads of the same rating and even some with higher ratings.
Average - The 11 lines above them added together and divided by 11.
